Here are some things you can do with your LinkedIn profile:

1. Put a professional looking had shot on you LinkedIn profile

2. Use your profile header on LinkedIn to make yourself standout more

Here's the header to mine:

Send your resume to me and Connect with me at TheBigGameHunter@cisny.com

I use Jeff Altman as my first name; the rest as my last name. Most of the 2700+ people I am connected with have sought me out.

You can do something to make your profile's header more effective.

3. Finish your profile. Particularly if you are a consultant, make sure you list many of the firms you consulted to over the past five years.

4. Write a description of what you did at your former employers with key words and search engine optimization in mind. Whether it is getting found by someone searching on LinkedIn or via a service like www.Search4Candidates.com, the idea is to get yourself found.
