Maybe It's Time

For many of you, I don't have to remind you that it's tough oout there.

The few interviews you get don't go anywhere; the few optimistic calls from recruiters you receive don't go any further. Your bank account is dwindling.

The only sectors in the economy that don't stink relatively speaking are certain jobs in IT, temporary work/consulting and jobs in healthcare.

And don't be folled by the talking heads on tv who get excited now that there were fewer than 400000 job cuts in a given month. There was a time not long ago when we were disturbed by 50000 job losses. Now, the fools cheer when they are a whisper under 400K.

Let's not kid ourselves or be fooled by politicians. The American economy won't get better any time soon. Comnpanies will not be ramping up for massive hiring for quite some time.

Maybe it's time to surrender and look for "Plan B."

Maybe it's time to consider finding consulting or temporary wirk or start a business on the side. Maybe it's time to bite the bullet and look for government money for re-training.

Don't wait for desperate times to explore your choices. Start planning ahead before government programs for such things are cut, your finances are completely destroyed and you are stuck.

Ask yourself, "If I were out of work in 6 months, would I be asking for the same salary?"

Ask yourself, "Can I afford to be out of work for a year?"

Don't box yourself into a corner by being reactive.

Be proactive and reduce your expenses NOW.

Be proactive and take some meetings now and get some ideas and some coaching from someone you trust.

Do it now.
